SWISS introduces “Doctor on Board” programme

SWISS C Series
SWISS adopted the Lufthansa Group’s special “Doctor on Board” programme yesterday (Wednesday 1 August). Under the programme, registered doctors can be easily identified by the crew on their passenger list and discreetly contacted in the event of an inflight medical emergency.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has adopted the “Doctor on Board” programme of the Lufthansa Group. Doctors who register to participate in the programme are clearly indicated on the passenger lists of SWISS flights, and are personally welcomed aboard. The programme is designed to ensure that, in the event of a medical emergency during the flight, the crew can immediately identify such doctors and can approach them for assistance discreetly, without unsettling other passengers. Participating doctors can also be identified in this way on the flights of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines, where the programme is already well established.

Any doctors who are interested in participating can register for the programme at lufthansa.com/Doctor-on-board. Anyone who does so will receive a one-off Miles & More mileage award, a flight voucher, a reference book on aviation medicine and further participation benefits. Should they be called upon to provide inflight medical assistance, they will also receive an extra gratification from SWISS. SWISS further offers liability insurance coverage to any doctor who treats a patient aboard its flights.
